The following relates to lambs supplied into Dunbia (Preston) and Dunbia (Llanybydder).
Regrettably it has come to that time of year again when the inclement weather is creating issues for us in the Factory. With the deterioration of the weather lambs are getting dirtier on farm, which in turn, can cause contamination issues within the factory when lambs are presented dirty or in a wet condition. This creates a great deal of disruption and ongoing problem when processing lambs at the Factory as it is a food safety concern.
Meat hygiene and food safety is of paramount importance to Dunbia and to all involved in the food chain. Therefore, Dunbia require all lambs to be belly clipped (3 blows) as from Monday 20th October 2014. We kindly request your co-operation on this matter by ensuring you belly clip your lambs before arrival at the abattoir. Daggings and dirty wool inside the hind legs and on the tail also need to be removed.
If you are unable to clip your lambs, Dunbia can provide this service at the following rates:
Cleanliness category 1,2,3 Rate per lamb 60p
Cleanliness category 4,5 Rate per lamb £1
If you require this service please ensure that you request it by advising your fieldsman, who will notify the Lairage staff; also please ensure that you note your requirement on your FCI paperwork.
I hope this will not compromise our good working relationship; and that we can continue to provide a high quality product to our customers. If you have any questions, then please do not hesitate to contact your fieldsman or the procurement department at your Dunbia site to gain clarification.
Thank you in advance for your co-operation on the above matter.
Yours Faithfully
